A webinar is an online seminar that focuses on a specific topic that is both relevant and current for early years providers.
Here you can get free access to monthly SMARTpd webinars hosted by our own early years experts.
Participants are able to view a ‘live’ presentation and have the opportunity to submit questions and contribute to discussion. Each webinar then remains available via our You Tube channel.
Next webinar: Language Rich Learning Environments
When: Wednesday 17 July from 4pm - 5pm
Creating a language rich environment provides stimulating opportunities for children’s language to thrive. This stimulating session will demonstrate how the physical layout and resources offered in our early years settings can best support children’s language development.
Sian Ansell (Specialist Early Years Teacher) and Lynsey Weston (Communication and Language Adviser) will examine the key elements that impact on the learning environment inside and out and explore how everyday routines and play opportunities can build children’s language experiences.
Cultural Capital in Early Years Provision
Aired: 4pm at Tuesday June 25
Ofsted’s new Education Inspection Framework (EIF) comes into force in September 2019. It has been generally well received by the sector as an evolution, building on the current inspection arrangements. However the concept of Cultural Capital introduced into the EIF is causing some frustration amongst early years experts and confusion amongst practitioners. Just what is ‘Cultural Capital’ and what does it look like in an early years setting. In this lively webinar, Michael Freeston, Director of Quality Improvement and Melanie Pilcher, Quality and Standards Manager dig a little deeper, looking at the origins of the term and how it does (or does not) relate to the current early years agenda.
All of our previous webinars are available on our YouTube channel.
